How Do I Join the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)?
Membership in local chapters is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by a Faculty Council and is based on outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities.
At FIS, all members are required by our by-laws to be a 7th grader, who carries an 90 or higher , demonstrates exemplary character, community involvement and leadership skills.
Invitations, accompanied with an application to join NJHS are distributed after the second marking period grades are released. Applications are due back shortly after, along with a recommendation letter.
The Faculty Council reviews all the collected data, and acceptance letters are distributed shortly after. An Induction Ceremony celebrates NJHS and the new members as they take the oath to uphold the NJHS pillars of scholarship, service, leadership and character, as well as its constitution and by-laws.
